On form Sports Club Villa are optimistic of maintaining their current run, as they visit BUL FC at FUFA Technical Center Njeru on Wednesday evening on Match Day 20 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
For the first time this season Villa won two straight games, against Vipers (3-1) and Paidha Black Angels (2-1) and are now focused at making it three out of three, something that shouldn’t be making news especially since it’s Villa in the picture.
“The game is a big test for us as far as team’s development is concerned,” SC Villa head coach Douglas Bamweyana told www.football-256.com before adding.
“The game is very important to us, I think we were unfortunate to lose to BUL in the first round, but now we want to focus on our performance and keep our results consistent.”
“We are looking at winning every opponent we play, we are working as hard as we can and as smartly as possible to get the results we need away from home,” he added.
A win for the visitors will continue to distance them from the relegation zone, they are currently 12th with 21 points from 19 outings.
A win for BUL who are currently 4th on 30 points will help them cement their position but according to coach Peter Onen, the side is desperate to recover from their 2-0 loss against KCCA FC at Lugogo.
“We have fully prepared for the game, we beat Villa in the first round, but they are now a different team because they have started picking results, they are a motivated motivated side,” Onen said after his team’s last training session on Tuesday.
“But we still wounded by the result in Lugogo when we lost against KCCA FC, something is haunting us and we want to get the monkey off our backs.”
“This is the moment because it’s Villa in our way and we must consolidate the pain from KCCA’s loss,” he added.
SC Villa’s Asuman Alishe, Ashraf Mandela, Joseph Semujju and Yusuf Wasswa are likely not to be in contention due to injuries.
Instead the 16 time champions will have to rely on inform forwards Pius Wangi and Charles Lwanga who are currently on blistering form, together with league leading scorer Bashir Mutanda.
Both teams have managed two wins, two draws and one loss in their last five league encounters.
In the last ten games involving the two sides, BUL have managed two wins to SC Villa’s the rest have been stalements.
