Bruno Bunyaga is the new kid on the block and his future seems bright given the hunger for success that he has.
Bunyaga is a player at both Buddu and St Lawrence University in the Airtel Masaza Cup and Pepsi University Football League respectively.
He was influential as the two teams reached the semifinals in their respective competitions and he is yearning for both trophies.
“Truth be told I want to win both trophies even though it won’t be easy,” Bunyaga told Football256 after he was crowned the Player of the Month for September at the Real Stars Sports Awards on Tuesday.
“I know how hard it is to defend the Masaza Cup but deep in me, I have a feeling that we are going to do it.”
“As for the UFL, this is my last year at the University just like many of my teammates so the hunger to leave with a trophy.”
“St Lawrence has not won it before so if we do and especially at this time when nearly everyone on the team is leaving we shall go down to the history books of the University,” he noted.
He scored the all-important goal in the first leg as Buddu edged Mawokota 1-0 in the Masaza Cup quarterfinals.
The defending champions advanced by the same scoreline to the semifinals because the second leg ended in a barren stalemate.
On the other hand, Bunyaga bagged a hat-trick in St Lawrence’s 4-1 thrashing of Kampala University in the second leg of the quarterfinals.
The last edition’s runners-up qualified for their second straight semifinal 5-1 on aggregate given that they had won the first leg 1-0.
As St Lawrence awaits the semifinals draw, Bunyaga will play for Buddu against Bulemeezi in the first leg of the Masaza semifinals on Sunday, October 9 at Masaka Recreational Grounds.
