Vipers have no option of losing even a single point but collect maximum points when they host Express FC at St Mary’s Stadium on Friday evening in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League encounter.

It is expected to be a nerve racking contest as Vipers run neck to neck with table leaders KCCA FC in what is gradually shaping into a two horse race as the league’s final bend nears.

“We have to try to win the game, especially considering that we are home,” Vipers head coach Micheal Nam Ouma told the club’s official website, he added.

“We have the obligation to close the gap on KCCA FC and there will be no variation on what we usually do.”

“Matches of this importance are always difficult but we know the magnitude and focused on securing maximum points,” he added.

Vipers will play without long time absentee Bashir Sekagya, Geofrey Wasswa and Livingstone Mulondo all sidelined due to injuries.

Express on the other hand will be without Charles Mutima Musoke and Arthur Kiggundu who are also injured.

Disan Galiwango suspended, while Frank Tumwesigye Zaga on loan from Vipers will not be available as he can’t play against his parent club.

Express coach George Ssemwogerere however, is optimistic that his side can challenge Vipers for maximum points.

“We came from Ndejje and we had to travel so we have some fatigue we are trying to go over but we want to win the game against Vipers.”

“We got injured players so we shall bring in new ones and we may be forced to change the way we play, we also have to know how Vipers play and we find means to stop them and they change to our system,” Ssemwogerere noted.

Vipers and Express will be meeting for the 28th time in the league with the Venoms in a commanding lead of 12 wins, they have drawn nine times and Express won six against the Venoms out of the previous 27 encounters.

The first round fixture at Betway Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku ended in a 1-1 draw after Tito Okello scored from an offside position at the death to cancel out Tony Odur’s first opener through a penalty.

Should Vipers collect maximum points against Express, they will temporarily move level on 45 points with table leaders KCCA FC who will be playing on Saturday against SC Villa at StarTimes Stadium Lugogo.

Express are eighth on the table with 28 points, they enter the game highly motivated as they battled past Ndejje University with a 1-0 score line away in Luwero in their previous league game.
