Busoga United will be seeking a third consecutive win in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League against their arch-rivals BUL FC when the two sides meet in the ninth Jinja derby at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru on Tuesday.
Busoga has won the previous two meetings against BUL and both of them came last season. They won 3-0 in September last year before a 2-1 win on February 1st to complete a season double.
Busoga got their season underway on a bad note, losing 3-0 to newly promoted side UPDF, while BUL were held to a 2-2 draw at home by SC Villa.
But a derby provides extra motivation, and Busoga assistant coach Fred Lumu said the players are prepared for the derby.
“We are prepared for the game,” Lumu said before adding; “The players are in good condition; everything is now set.”
“We are targeting nothing else other than a win; we respect them but we don’t fear them,” he added.
Meanwhile, BUL’s only win against Busoga United came in April 2019 while the other five meetings ended in stalemates with their first meeting being a goalless draw in September 2016.
