Tunisian giants and defending champions of the Total CAF Champions League Esperance Tunis are on the right path to defend their title after defeating Algeria’s CS Constantine 6-3 on aggregate at the quarterfinal stage of the competition.
Esperance qualified for the semi-finals after defeating Algeria’s CS Constantine 3-1 in the quarter-final second leg on Saturday in Tunisia.
Two goals from Saad Bguir in the 23rd and 27th minute of the game and Franck Kom’s 86th minute strike gave ‘The Beast of Africa’ a way to the semis at Stade Olympique de Radès. CS Constantine’s only goal in the game was scored by Dylan Bahamboula in the 62nd minute.
Esperance de Tunis will battle Joseph Ochaya’s TP Mazembe, who outwitted Tanzanian giants Simba 4-1 on aggregate.

Elsewhere, Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca dismantled Horoya with a 5-0 aggregate win to proceed to semis after a goalless draw in the first leg in Conakry.
El-Karti grabbed his double inside the opening 30 minutes, before setting up another for Mohammed Nahiri. Defender Abdellatif Noussir and striker Zouheir El-Moutaraji were also on target to complete the rout at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah on Saturday.
Wydad Casablanca will face Denis Onyango’s Mamelodi Sundowns in the semi-finals, the two sides met in the group stage where Sundowns won 2-1 at home before Wydad claimed a 1-0 victory in the return leg two months later.
Wydad are bidding to win their second Champions League trophy in three seasons after being crowned champions in 2017, while Mamelodi Sundowns is looking forward at winning the trophy for the first time since 2016.
