Ahead of their CAF Champions League second leg encounter with Al-Merriekh, Express FC head coach Wasswa Bbosa has assured the Wankulukuku faithful that he is mindful of the task that lies ahead.
This he highlighted after confirming the 18-man squad that travelled to Khartoum to finalize the race they started.
Bbosa expressed buoyancy that his team is up for the errand and that what was key to this quest was ensuring progress to the first preliminary round of the competition.
“We have prepared well and we shall do a good job,” he told the club website on Tuesday, September 14, 2021.
“The team is aware of the job at hand and they all want to progress to the first round, so we hope we arrive safely and execute the game plan.”
The Red Eagles hold a slim 2-1 advantage from the first leg played at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Friday, September 10, courtesy of strike from Erick Kambale and Martin Kizza.
They could well be out of the tie if the Omurdman based team manage a 1-0 win. A 2-1 home victory will send the tie to extra-time or even to spot-kicks.
This fascinating showdown will take centre stage at the Al-Merriekh Stadium in Omdurman this Friday, September 17.
It should also be noted that Bbosa will not make it to the dugout because his ‘CAF B’ license does not meet the requirements for CAF who need a ‘CAF A’ permit for one to make the touchline.
Simon Peter Kirumira, who was ceremoniously hired to fill the void did not however make the travelling contingent for allegedly lacking a passport.
