The 2020/21 CAF Champions League has reached the semi-final level and all four teams will be in action on Saturday for the first leg.
Reigning champions Al Ahly will visit 2019 winners Esperance de Tunis while two-time winners Wydad Casablanca host Kaizer Chiefs who are making their maiden appearance in the semi-final.
En route to the last four, Al Ahly eliminated Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 on aggregate whereas Esperance overturned a 2-0 first-leg defeat to advance 3-2 against Algerian outfit CR Belouizdad.
Before Saturday’s encounter, the Red Devils and The Popular Team have met on 18 occasions, Al Ahly has registered eight wins to Esperance’s four while six games have been draws.
Wydad booked their semi-final slot with a 2-1 win on aggregate over Algerian side MC Alger. Kaizer Chiefs went past Tanzanian giants Simba SC 4-3 on aggregate.
Both Wydad and Kaizer have gone head to head twice before and it was in this season’s group stages with either team winning while at home. The Red Castle won 4-0 while the Amakhosi were 1-0 victors.
The last four teams in this year’s champions league will meet again in a week for the second ties.
Winners on aggregate after both legs will square off in the final at the Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca, Morocco on 17 July 2021.
