On the day the country is celebrating Heroes, the Crested Cranes needed a hero in their semifinal against Ethiopia at the ongoing CECAFA Women’s Championship at FUFA Technical Center, Njeru on Thursday.
with normal time ending 0-0, they went to extra time and it was in the 114th minute when that hero arrived in Fazila Ikwaput with the all important goal as the Crested Cranes won the game 1-0.
Ikwaput was scoring her fifth of the competition and the result meant the Crested Cranes qualified for the competition’s final for the first time in their history.
The Lady Doves WFC striker has scored in all the four games that her side has played so far at the ongoing tournament.
Uganda will take on Burundi in the final on Saturday, June 11, the latter defeated Tanzania 2-1 in the other semifinal.
