The Uganda U-15 football team head coach Jackson Magera has pointed out that his side’s main target is to lift the ongoing 2019 Cecafa U-15 challenge cup ahead of his side’s semifinal clash.
Uganda will face Burundi in the semifinals at Cicero Stadium in Asmara, Eritrea on Wednesday, August 28th having topped Group B with maximum points.
“I am happy the players are following the tactical instructions given to them. We came here to win the trophy,” Magera said before adding.
“My team has shown lots of composure and stability in all departments since the tournament started and we want to continue with that spirit,” he added.
Uganda who have scored 13 goals in four matches will rely much on the tournament’s leading scorer Abasi Kyeyune and Travis Mutyaba if they are to overcome Burundi.
Meanwhile, Burundi’s head coach Gustave Niyonkuru is firm that his side is well prepared to overcome Uganda, they will rely much on their top scorer Florien Interiteka who has four goals.
“We know Uganda is a strong team, but this is a semifinal. We have planned for that game and hope that we get it right,” he noted.
To reach this stage, Uganda topped group B with 12 points from four games while Burundi finished second in group A with 10 points.
The winner between Uganda and Burundi will face the winner between Kenya and Rwanda in the final which will be played on Friday, August 30th.
