By Football256 Team

Promising and attacking midfield youngster Bright Anukani has been named in the Uganda Hippos final 20 man squad, by head coach Morley Byekwaso for the CECAFA U20 tournament.

The CECAFA tournament is to be held in Uganda from the 21st September, to 5th October 2019, with all matches hosted by the Pecce stadium, Gulu and the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

However, Anukani is currently away with the Uganda Cranes CHAN team that departed the country for the CHAN qualifiers against Burundi, on Saturday.

The attacking midfielder has been given the green light to travel with the team and will miss the opening match against Eritrea.

Despite Anukani being the most experienced member of the team, the Hippos are not short of experience and depth as they still boast of hugely talented Steven Sserwada and Hassan Ssenyonjo to fill Anukani’s void.

KCCA forward Sadat Anaku and Proline FC’s Ivan Bogere are the other more established members in the squad.

A 21-man squad has that will be captained by Gavin Kizito, already arrived in Gulu amidst heavy anticipation and warm welcome from the locals.

Uganda is in Group A with Eritrea, Djibouti and Burundi and their opening match is on Saturday 21st September at Pecce Stadium against Eritrea at 4pm.

The Hippos will then play against horn of Africa nation Djibouti in their second game, before they face off against Sudan in their final group game.
