Uganda U20 forward Ivan Bogere was unstoppable for the Hippos as he emerged winner of the Golden boot to cap a brilliant team performance at the CECAFA U20 Challenge Cup.
Bogere who scored five goals tied with Tanzania’s Abdul Hamisi Suleiman and the two shared the boot.
Bogere’s goals helped Uganda win the CECAFA U20 Challenge Cup as well as qualify for the 2021 AFCON U20 finals.
The Morley Byekwaso coached side won 4-1 against hosts Tanzania in the final at the Black Rhino Academy, Karatu.
Meanwhile, Tanzania’s Pascal Msindo won the MVP award while South Sudan’s Simon Justine won the goalkeeper award. The Fair Play Award went to the hosts Tanzania.
Uganda Hippos together with Tanzania will represent the CECAFA region at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations U20 finals due in Mauritania.
