Uganda Hippos will be looking to sealing a maiden qualification to the AFCON U20 finals when they take on Kenya U20 in the semi-finals of the CECAFA U20 Championships at the Black Rhino Academy, Arusha on Monday afternoon.
The Hippos topped group B with four points after their superior goal difference over that South Sudan. Morley Byekwaso’ side were held to a goalless a draw in their first game against South Sudan.
They then picked up an emphatic 6-1 victory over Burundi in their final game group game.
South Sudan’s 4-0 victory over Burundi on Friday confirmed Uganda as group B winners on goal difference.
Kenya on the other hand were dominant in group C, winning both their group games against Sudan and Ethiopia.
The Hippos will welcome back towering defender Musa Ramathan from suspension for the red card in the first game against South Sudan.
Byekwaso is expected to maintain a three-man backline with skipper Gavin Kizito Mugweri, Kenneth Ssemakula and Musa playing in front of Ascent Academy goalkeeper Jack Komaketch.
Bobosi Byaruhanga is set to play as the holding midfielder in a four-man midfield together with Ivan Asaba, Steven Sserwadda, Aziz Kayondo and Isma Mugulusi.
The Hippos will have a three-men in attack with Richard Basangwa on the left, Ivan Bogere who scored a brace against South Sudan leading the line while Najib Yiga will play off the right.
