Contrary to the communique released by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in December, recent modifications have been made to suit the pandemic era in which CHAN is being organized.
On December 14, 2020, CAF indicated that for the group stage and quarter final games of CHAN 2020, only 25% of spectators were to be allowed in the various stadia.
Meanwhile 50% supporters were to be granted access for the semi-finals and final of the game.
However, based on another statement dated February 1, 2021, from CAF Secretary General Abdelmounaïm Bah, the 25% capacity attendance allocated for the earlier games will be maintained throughout the competition. This will include the semi-finals and final.
The decision proceeds a meeting held between the CAF Organising committee and the Local Organising Committee of CHAN, where it was agreed that only a quarter of the capacity will be allowed to attend matches.
This means that only 5000 fans will be allowed to attend the semi-final between Cameroon and holders Morocco, while 12,500 fans will be in attendance for Mali vs Guinea game on Wednesday.
