The group stages of the 2022 Algeria Africa Nations Championships (CHAN) climaxed on Tuesday, with underdogs Niger and Mauritania stunning and eliminating Cameroon and Mali respectively.
Ousseini Badamassi stung to help Niger shock Cameroon in a 1-0 victory, while Ibrahima Mamadou Sy’s lone strike guided Mauritania past Mali.
As the latter packed to head home, Mauritania booked a last-eight slot, where they’ll take on Senegal on Friday, at the 19 May 1956 Stadium, Annaba.

Meanwhile, Niger, who topped proceedings in Group E, will tussle it out with Ghana on Saturday, at the Miloud Hadefi Stadium.
Uganda’s tormentors, Ivory Coast will enter the quarterfinal fray on Friday against hosts Algeria, at the Nelson Mandela Stadium.
On the other hand, Group C toppers Madagascar will lock horns with Group A runners-up Mozambique on Saturday, at the Stade Mohamed-Hamlaoui.
The Semi-final bouts will then be played on Tuesday 31st. The third-place playoff will take place three days later, while the final will be played on the day after (Saturday) at the Nelson Mandela Stadium.
