For several years now, Express FC has been eminent in changing its entire squad season in season out, they tend to release old players at the end of every season and recruit new ones.
Most of them go because of contract’s expiry while others are bought by better paying clubs. But in replacement, Express always sign others teams’ rejects or unknown players from lower divisions.
This is not far from happening again as the Wankulukuku based club announced the release of seven players through their official website, reason being their contracts expired and the club decided not to renew them.
The players who are now looking for new clubs to ply their trades next season includes; goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga, Shafik Kakeeto, Ibrahim Kayiwa, Joel Male, Pius Mbidde, Charles Musoke and Tony Odur.
This occurred just three days after the club’s release of its captain Isaac Mutanga whose contract had also expired, this put the number of Express’ offloads to eight players few days after the conclusion of the 2018/2019 season.
Express are in pursuit of rebuilding their club by making it great again starting from signing classy players who can win for them games.
The team is looking at winning trophies yet again and bring the glory days back at the Betway Muteesa II Stadium Wankulukuku, their last major trophy came in 2012 when they won the Uganda Premier League.
They finished 10th on the 2018/2019 StarTimes Uganda Premier League 16 team log with 40 points, in the Stanbic Uganda Cup, they were eliminated by Bright Stars FC at the semifinal stage.
