Plate semi finals of the 2019 COSAFA tournament were staged to cater for the teams that will have lost their quarter finals at the tournament in Durban.
Having played just a single game each at the 2019 COSAFA Championship, Uganda Cranes and South Africa will face off in one of the plate semifinals at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Tuesday June 4th, 2019.
Uganda Cranes lost to Lesotho 3-2 on penalties on Saturday after a goalless draw in normal time whereas hosts South Africa also lost 5-4 to Botswana on penalties on Sunday after a two all draw in normal time.
Both teams joined the tournament at the quarter final stage but yielded nothing although there was much anticipation that the two would pull out extraordinary performances at the tournament.

Apart from Uganda and South Africa, the other teams who joined the tournament at the quarter final stages include; Lesotho, Botswana, Zambia and defending champions Zimbabwe.
Lesotho and Zimbabwe became the first sides to book their spots in the semi finals with victory over Uganda and Comoros respectively on Saturday.
Botswana, who defeated Bafana Bafana on Sunday will now face Lesotho who defeated Uganda on Saturday.
The defending champions Zimbabwe will lock horns with Zambia who defeated Malawi via a penalty shootout on Sunday evening.

Both semi finals will be played at the Princess Magogo Stadium, while the plate section is scheduled to take place at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
