Cranes’ captain Onyango lands Huawei deal

The commercialisation of sports has allowed sportsmen to earn from their brands through endorsement deals all over the world on short and long term deals.

Not many sportsmen in Uganda though have had their brands marketed well enough to stand out and attract other big brands, Cranes skipper Denis Onyango is one of those few.

Onyango and his Mamelodi Sundowns skipper Hlompho Kekana are part of Huawei’s latest promotion of the GT 2e watch, which is the latest on the market.

“Our duty is to promote the watches which will be launched on July 1st till the end of the month,” Onyango told Football256 from his base in South Africa.

“We are going to put some fun to it by doing pushups challenge with musicians, I and kekana will compete against DJ Tira and Anga Makubalo as we also do some giveaways to our fans.”

“The watch checks your heart rate, it takes snapshots and also monitors your breathing, so us being sportsmen we are fit to promote it,” Onyango added.

This year Onyango did renew his contract with RG gloves until 2022, a deal he has had since 2014 with the South American company being his exclusive providers of gloves among other products.
