Crested Cranes take shape ahead of COSAFA

There are however only 24 players in the bubble at FUFA Technical Center, Njeru with the duo of Yudaya Nakayenze and Shiraz Natasha set to join the team in South Africa before the tournament kicks off.

The Crested Cranes provisional squad has been trimmed to 26 players from the initial 32 squad members summoned by head coach George William Lutalo.

The team will continue with the preparations ahead of the COSAFA Women Championship that will be held in Pretoria, South Africa early next month.

There are however only 24 players in the bubble at FUFA Technical Center, Njeru with the duo of Yudaya Nakayenze and Shiraz Natasha set to join the team in South Africa before the tournament kicks off.

The players that have been excused from the camp include; goalkeeper Elsie Najjemba from Rines SS WFC and She Maroons left back, Justine Kizza Najjuuko.

Joan Naggayi and Kautharah Naluyima who play for Amuria High School have also been dropped alongside midfielder Grace Nassongo of Olila WFC’s Marion Amangat.

The other notable name missing faces on the list is Lady Dove’s striker Fazila Ikwaput who is set to miss the tournament as she continues to nurse an injury picked in the CECAFA Women Cup.

The female squad is expected to be shaped further with the final list set to bear only twenty players who will represent the country at the invitational tournament.

The final squad is expected to fly to South Africa on September 27, 2021, for the tournament and set camp to play in group C alongside Namibia, Zambia and Eswathi.
