Goalkeeper Davis Mutebi has revealed that he seeks a fresh challenge and that he would want to try something new as he brings an end to his four-year stay at Police FC.

Mutebi who has previously played at Bright Stars joined the 2005 league champions in 2016 but says that he was not entirely convinced that his future lay at the club as he approaches the peak of his career.

Mutebi told Football256: “Honestly, I felt it was the right time for me to move on and seek a fresh challenge elsewhere.”

“There are any a number of factors that advised my decision to leave the club. But I was not convinced of my future at the club because the club were reluctant to meet my demands.”

“I also wanted to be joining a club that would fight higher up the table and would provide me with the challenge because I feel at this stage of my career, I would like to try something new,” he added.

Mutebi has been a diligent, consistent and trustworthy servant to the Cops as he set him self as the club’s number one goalkeeper especially for the last two seasons and the shot-stopper is grateful.

“Am thankful for the opportunity Police has given me to grow and develop as a player. I wish the club the best”

“I have enjoyed my time with the club and I am glad that I have been part of a side that has played some of the best football in the country.”

“I have the deepest respect for everything that is happening at Police, but we all have ambitions and dreams to chase and like I have said I would love to try something new,” Mutebi noted.

Mutebi confirmed that he is close to finalising a move to Jinja based side BUL FC, with the player stating that they have agreed to terms to a two-year contract and that he expects the final details to be completed soon.

“We have agreed to terms on a two-year contract with BUL FC,” Mutebi affirmed.

“Everything is not yet finalised, but the negotiations are near conclusion and soon the deal will be announced,” he added.

Police have already signed replacements for Mutebi with Tom Ikara joining from KCCA and 23-year-old Sammon Oloka also joining the Cops on a two-year contract.

At BUL, Mutebi is expected to fill the void left by Eric Kabowa who is on his way out of the club, but he is expected to face competition from Sanoni Mulabi for a starting spot between the posts.

Last season, Police avoided relegation when they ended the campaign in 13th position whilst BUL FC were number six on he final table standings.
