Debutant Kisekka salvages point for Police, Wakiso, Onduparaka win

Police FC debutant Henry Kisekka scored a second half equaliser as the Cops twice came from behind to pick up their fifth consecutive draw against SC Villa at the Bombo Barracks Grounds on Saturday evening.

Muhammad Ssenoga put the hosts in the lead with his first goal of the season after 18 minutes. Johnson Odong drew Police level five minutes later with a composed finish from the penalty spot.

Goffin Oyirwoth was at the end of a brilliant move with Ssenoga to restore Villa’s lead in the 36th minute.

The visitors drew level seven minutes into the second half through Kisekka who did well to control a long ball before setting himself up to curl his shot beyond Meddie Kibirige in goal.

The point was enough to lift Police back into fourth on 24 points, four points above the Jogoo who are sixth on 19 points.

Police FC are at home against third-placed URA FC on Tuesday while Villa travel to the St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende to visit bitter rivals Vipers SC on Wednesday, March 9.

At the Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe, Wakiso Giants registered their second win of the season with their 1-0 win over BUL Bidco FC who continue to have an unimpressive start to the season.

Vianney Ssekajugo scored his first league goal since scoring against Bright Stars in December 2020 to calm a bit of pressure off head coach Douglas Bamweyana’s shoulders.

With Wakiso staring at their 10th draw of the season, their talisman pounced on Alex Komaketch’s ball to seal victory in the 88th minute a result which lifted the Purple Sharks into ninth on 15 points.

BUL has collected only 13 points from their 12 games and lie 11th on the log ahead of their visit to Bright Stars. Wakiso is also away to Kitara FC on Thursday, March 10.

At the Kavumba Recreation Grounds, Onduparaka FC edged home side Bright Stars 1-0 courtesy of Emma Okecho’s strike in the 22nd minute.

The victory lifted Onduparaka into eighth on 18 points ahead home tie against Mbarara City on Wednesday, March 9.

Bright Stars stay 10th on the log on 14 points with a home clash against BUL Bidco who are a point below them in 11th next on the cards on Thursday.
