Vipers SC defender Aziz Kayondo will be celebrating his first league goal for the club with a bruised eye as his incredible performance against Busoga United on Tuesday afternoon was rewarded with a punch from goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora.
Kayondo opened the scoring for Vipers at the St. Mary’s Stadium in their 4-0 victory over Busoga – the third consecutive win over their visitors in a space of a week – but was at the receiving end following a bitter physical exchange with teammate and goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora at the final whistle.
Fred Kajoba’s boys started in commanding style, dominating proceedings and creating chance after another. Karim Watambala missed a header from close range while Paul Willa headed against the crossbar inside the opening 15 minutes.
The hosts found the break through moments later through defender Aziz Kayondo who was at the end of a brilliant team goal.
Yunus Ssentamu and Ceasar Manzoki both missed glorious opportunities to extend Vipers’ lead as they carried a 1-0 lead into half time.
Two minutes into the second half, Ssentamu was at the end of Watambala’s through ball to double Vipers’ lead. Ssentamu completed his double from the spot following Shafiq Kakeeto’s handball inside the area.
Milton Kariisa who was returning from injury completed the routing with his side’s fourth in injury time.
Vipers are sure to head into the next match day against bottom side Airtel Kitara FC at the top of the log with 39 points.
On the other side, Busoga United lie 12th on 17 points ahead of their home tie against Police FC at the FUFA technical Center in Njeru on Saturday.
