SC Villa coach Edward Kaziba has rallied his side ahead of Sunday’s derby against KCCA and has labelled the game a must-win for the Jogoo.

Villa approaches the Kampala derby on the back of an impressive run that has seen his side collect 10 of the last 12 points in the league as they continue to keep chase of the front runners.

The derby at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo concludes a week that has seen the Jogoo play both their rivals in a space of three days.

After picking up a draw against Express on Wednesday, Kaziba insists that they would love to end on a positive run as he declared that much of their focus has been on their trip to Lugogo.

“Derbies are for winning: We come into tomorrow’s derby to win,” Kaziba declared.

“Tomorrow’s game is another Derby, we will go to Lugogo with the sole aim of collecting all three Derby points,” he added.

The Jogoo can carry a positive mentality into the game following their 2-1 victory over KCCA in the first leg at the Bombo Barracks Grounds in December.

The victory was their first over the Kasasiro Boys since 2017, as they continue to chase their first victory at KCCA in over eight years.

“We beat KCCA in the first round but last season they beat us in Lugogo. It’s something we look forward to changing tomorrow,” Kaziba said.

“My team is in very good shape. Since we finished the Express game, all our focus has been on this game,” he continued.

Villa welcome back midfielder Amir Kakomo and goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige after the pair sat out their previous game against Express due to suspension.

Left-back Andrew Kiwanuka limped off from the Express game with a hamstring injury and he joins the list of absentees that also include Benson Muhindo who continues his rehabilitation as he nears his return.
