Uganda’s representatives in the inaugural CAF Women Champions League, Lady Doves Football Club has unveiled their travelling team for the CECAFA Zonal qualifiers in Nairobi, Kenya.
The team is comprised of thirty-five people, inclusive of twenty-two players, five technical team members, one medical officer and five management members, plus a leader of the delegation from FUFA.
Club President Julius Mugisha expressed his gratitude to stakeholders who have made their preparations smooth and achievable.
“I would like to thank Uganda Martyrs for hosting us for close to two months without any condition, and also Bunyaruguru girls and Jean Sseninde United for the financial support extended towards us in these trying times,” Mugisha told media.
“We have worked with the federation closely, they helped us with paperwork, travelling requires a lot of technicalities, so they did a great job for us, they have secured 24 tickets for the team,” he added.
Skipper Daisy Nakaziro was also over the moon for leading the team to the qualifiers and promised excellence.
“As a player am so humbled to be leading this group of dedicated players to the country’s ever zonal champions league qualifiers, and I promise victory to our fans and the country,“ she said.
As a technical boost measure, the club also unveiled Muwadda Byuma-, a goalkeeping coach from Proline Football Club and Nkugwa Rogers from Uganda martyrs high school.
Uganda U17 girls team coach Ayub Khalifah Kiyinji, who was earlier included as a technical expert, will not travel with Lady Doves due to commitments with the national U20 team bound for the COSAFA Championships in South Africa.
