The current form of Uganda Cranes forward Edrisa Lubega at Estonian Meistriliiga side Paide Linnameeskond is without a doubt eye-catching and one that gives hope especially being in a new environment.
Lubega who joined the club in January 2020, on a two-year loan deal from Uganda Premier League side Proline FC like most players first struggled to acclimatise to the new environment that saw him miss the club’s opening game of the season.
But the league halt induced by the COVID-19 pandemic was a blessing in disguise to the former SV Reid forward as it bought him time to settle well and get used to conditions in Estonia, and when the league resumed last month with matchday two, he was good to go.
Ronald Lusulire brings you a detailed statistical report of Lubega at Paide Linnameeskond so far with six games played.
Out of the six games Paide has played this season, the 22-year-old has featured in five games racking up a total of 266 minutes.
Most of these appearances have been off the bench. Lubega has been utilised as a substitute on three occasions against FCI Levadia, Kuressaare, and on his debut against Tulevik.
He was handed his full debut at the club against Flora on June 3rd, playing the entire 90 minutes. He was then named in the starting XI for the second consecutive time against Tammeka, the club’s most recent game.
Lubega has had his name on the score sheet thrice; scoring deep into stoppage time against Tulevik, 32 minutes after coming on for Kouber Kevin on his debut for the club.
He was again on the score sheet for a second game running against Kuressaare, putting the ball in the back of the net 10 minutes after coming on in the 46th minute. The third came against Tammeka on Sunday, 25 minutes after the start.
With a huge chunk of the season to go, Lubega should be having his eyes on the golden boot, as he is five goals shy of leading goal scorer Rauno Sappinen of Flora FC.
He is yet to receive a booking, while three of the five games have ended in defeat for his side Paide who lie fifth on the 10 team log with nine points from six games.
Paide and Lubega will look at securing back to back victories for the first time this season when they host bottom side Narva on Sunday 14, June before they travel to third-placed Kalju three days later.
