It was an all Ugandan affair in the Ethiopian Premier League as Shire Endaselassie home to midfielder Yassar Mugerwa narrowly defeated Bunna of custodian Ismael Watenga and defender Chrizestom Ntambi.
Shire won the tie 1-0 after Mugerwa assisted Fofana on Friday to keep their survival hopes in the top flight alive in a match the trio played full time for their respective clubs.
“It’s always a good feeling playing against your fellow countrymen and I thank Allah we took the day,” Mugerwa told www.football-256.com before adding.
“Upon arrival at Shire, my number one target was to help the team survive relegation which I am optimistic we shall achieve.”
It was Mugerwa’s ninth game and fifth assist in Shire colors since joining at the start of this year from Fasil Kenema.
The result took Shire into 15th place from 24 games, 2 points below the relegation zone with six matches to end the season. Mugerwa and company will return to action on May 19th with an away trip to Debub Police.
