Express draw Police in Uganda Cup round of 16

While Express FC were having their first training session under new coach George Ssemwogerere at the Betway Mutessa II Stadium Wankulukuku, the round of sixteen Stanbic Uganda Cup draw was going on at FUFA House in Mengo.

And the 10 time champions of the competitions were drawn against Police FC, the team to last beat them at their home ground on Tuesday.

The two sides have just met in the 2018/2019 StarTimes Uganda Premier League on Monday, Police FC won the tie at Wankuluku which led to the departure of Kefa Kisala from the Wankuluku based club.

“They beat us here so we want to see whether they are the strong team or us or they just did things the right way,” Ssemwogerere told www.football-256 before adding.

“It’s not a bad draw as you know Uganda cup you have to beat the strong teams and then may be play weaker teams on the final.”

Elsewhere, Nkambi coffee who knocked out SC Villa from the tournament in the round of 32 will visit Big League outfits Nebbi Central FC as they bid to qualify for the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Vipers SC, URA FC, Wakiso Giants FC are all playing at home against Kiboga Young FC, Bright Stars FC and Tooro United respectively

Former Uganda Cranes and KCCA FC striker Abbey Nasur hailed the tournament sponsors Stanbic Bank for their effort towards the competition.

“I thank Stanbic Bank for sponsoring the competition. During our time, we had no such kind of sponsorship but these days, football really pays and therefore urge young people to participate in the game,” he said.

The round of 16 fixtures will be played between 14th and 19th February 2019.
