Express get some breathing space after KCCA FC win

By Clive Kyazze

Two years ago on this day, KCCA FC lost to URA 1-0 losing their unbeaten run of the 2016/017 season in the process.

Today, they lost 3-2 to Express again losing their unbeaten run of the 2018/2019 StarTimes Uganda Premier League at the Betway Muteesa II Wankulukuku Stadium.

It was the first time Express was beating KCCA at Wankulukuku since the 2010/2011 season and a sweet win it was especially for Kefa Kisala.

Express were coming off back to back defeats to Onduparaka (0-2) and Kirinya Jinja SSS (1-0).

“It was a good game for the fans, we  gave them five goals and they left happy,” Kisala told Football256.

“We knew we were going to play against an organised side with a good run and with continental experience.”

“That meant that we had to double our effort and work hard for the win and we managed to get the three points,” Kisala added.

Express got the lead as early as 16 minutes off a Micheal Birungi header after KCCA FC failed to clear their lines.

Seven minutes into the second half, Allan Kyabadde who had replaced the injured Saddam Ibrahim Juma capitalised on Jackson Nunda’s teasing cross to round off Tony Kyamera in goal before scoring in an empty net.

Express got back their lead through Eric Kambale who dazzled the KCCA FC defense before shooting past Charles Lukwago.

Four minutes later, Disan Galiwango got the third after a Lukwago howler to put the lead beyond reach.

Ten minutes to full time, Allan Okello headed home off a Mustafa Kizza cross but it wasn’t enough to even salvage point.

Express take their tally to 16 points ahead of their next tie against SC Villa on Friday, the latter drew one all with Ndejje Lion in Luwero.
