Express head coach George Ssemwogerere will have to wait for his maiden home league win as his side played to a goalless draw against Mbarara City at the Betway Muteesa II Stadium Wankulukuku.
Express entered the game searching for three points, they looked a much improved side from their previous games under Ssemwogerere.
Mbarara survived an early scare from Tony Odur’s header in the first minute of the game, he jumped highest but couldn’t only guide the ball over bar.
Another chance for the hosts came in the 30th minute of the game when Michael Birungi missed a header from Disan Galiwango’s magnificent cross.
The first half was an end to end affair, however both teams failed to make impact in the final third of the pitch as defences of both ends seemed organised enough.
Mbarara City’s first close chance came in the 52nd minute of the game, but Paul Mucureezi’s shot was challenging for Mathias Muwanga.
Both teams made continuous attacks against each other as they were looking for an opener, which made the second half of the game more tense.
Express kept on pressing the visitors with several attempts from Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye, Michael Birungi, substitute Brian Umony but all of them did not yield anything.
Mbarara City’s Hillary Mukundane almost grabbed a winner for this side but miss kicked the ball, Mathias Muwanga came to Express’ rescue.
The draw left Express ninth with 29 points while Mbarara City remained third with 40 points with seven games to go.
