Express FC assistant coach James Odoch has urged the Red Eagles to maintain the winning mentality if they are to go far in their StarTimes Uganda Premier League title challenge.
Express were comfortable 3-0 winners over Wakiso Giants FC at the Betway Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku on Friday evening.
Speaking after the game Odoch said: “Today we have won our third consecutive game and I am very happy with the result. Although we still struggle with converting many of the chances we create.”
“We need to continue handling it game by game because we have a lot more games coming up and I think if we can continue with the same wining mentally, we shall reach very far.”
“Today’s game is done we are therefore going to go back and rectify a few concerns here and there mostly in our finishing to see us score more goals because we are really creating a lot of chances but converting less,” he added.
George Ssenkaaba opened the scoring in the sixth minute of the game scoring his sixth goal of the season making him the club’s leading goal scorer.
Charles Musiige was on target in the 11th minute with his first goal for the club for Express’ second before another usual suspect Godfrey Lwesibaba scored from a free kick in 52nd minute to make it 3-0.
On his account, a jubilant Musiige disclosed: “I am super excited for having opened up my scoring account for the club because what brought me here is to score goals and create chances.”
“I have been creating the chance but I had not scored yet but after earning a goal today, I feel grateful and I know I am going to score more goals for the club.”
“And on general note this has been a huge win to the team because we had spent over nine years minus topping the league, so we want to continue wining our games and see where we can finish at the end of it all,” Musiige added.
A win took the six-time champions top of the 16-team SUPL summit on 22 points with a game played more than second placed Vipers SC who are on 21 points
They will therefore be log leaders for at least the next 24hrs as they wait for the results from Saturday’s lunch time game between Onduparaka and Vipers.
