Express FC goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga has highlighted that their goalless stalemate against SC Villa is decent and they can build on it going forward.
Express were held to their first goalless draw this season by archrivals SC Villa at the Bombo Barracks Grounds.
Muwanga who returned to goal after sitting out their Uganda Cup victory over Kyetume was instrumental for his side as the Red Eagles registered their 11th clean sheet of the season.
Speaking to the media after the match, the goalkeeper was quick to air out his satisfaction with the draw against their historical rivals in the Kampala derby.
“Villa is a good team but most important to note, this was a derby. A point and a clean sheet is not bad at all, so we will build on it for our next encounter against Mbarara City,” Muwanga told media after the game.
“We will build on that, go back to the drawing board and correct some minor mistakes and work harder especially being able to score goals,” he added.
The barren draw leaves Express in their now familiar 3rd position with 36 points.
However, they’re now three points adrift joint leaders Vipers SC and URA FC who have both tallied 39 points in their battle for league glory this season.
The Red Eagles face a trip to the West to face Mbarara City FC next on Saturday at the Kakyeka stadium.
The Jogoo on the other hand remain unshaken in their sixth place on the 16 team log with another giant in KCCA FC in sight at Lugogo on Sunday.
