Express have not won any silverware since 2012, when they lifted the league title, they last won the Stanbic Uganda Cup in 2007.
A quest for another silver is upon the 10 time winner of the competition when they visit Paidha Black Angels at the Green light stadium in Arua.
Paidha are currently struggling for their lives in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, they sit bottom of the 16 log with just one win to their name in 12 league outings. They have lost their last four home games in the league, Express have lost their last two games on the road.
Express defeated Paidha 3-1 at the Green light Stadium in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, a tie defender John Revita wasn’t part of but he is currently a strong pillar in Kefa Kisala’s team. But he knows a thing or two about how big the tie is much as they are missing a few players as the team travels to West Nile.
“It is not going to be an easy game because we miss crucial players,” Revita told the club website. “The boys are determined and are ready to give their all so that we come back with a win,” added the player who is likely to make his competition debut.
The former Bukavu Dawa defender has not ruled out the issue of pressure especially with the current Express administration trying to change things around and expect results from the team.
“Pressure is of course there. Express is a big team and it’s the first game so pressure is there but the players can handle it. The coaches are training us to handle it (pressure),” he said.
At this stage of the competition, a game goes straight to penalties in case normal time ends in a draw, Express want to finish the job early enough.
“Penalties! The truth is that we should kill off the game in 90 minutes because when it goes to penalties any team can win,” said the Ronaldinho look alike.
There will be more 24 games to be played on Sunday, Onduparaka will travel east to play Busia Young, while Kirinya Jinja SSS will be in the west to play Mbarara FC.
