Uganda Cranes striker Uche Mubiru Ikpeazu’s Wycombe Wanderers were knocked out by Tottenham Hotspurs in the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup after a 4-1 loss at the Adams Park Stadium on Monday.
Mubiru played for over 71 minutes before he was brought off for Adebayo Akinfenwa.
Heading into the game between Wycombe and Tottenham, there was always going to be a fine line between the two sides given that the former plays in the Sky Bet Championship while the latter belongs to the English Premier League.
The above was witnessed on the field of play from the word go, with the Jose Mourinho coached side enjoying the lion’s share of possession.
However, it’s the hosts who scored the first goal of the game through midfielder Fred Onyedinma in the 25th minute.
With Gareth Ainsworth’s charges seemingly heading into halftime with a slim lead, Spurs levelled matters in first half added time through Gareth Bale.
Having sensed the danger Wycombe could pose, Mourinho called on some of his big gun in the likes of Harry Kane and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg who had started on the bench.
Hojbjerg replaced defender Japhet Tanganga at the start of the second half while Kane came on for Carlos Vinicius in 58th.
Son Heung Min and Tanguy Ndombele were later introduced for Lucas Moura and Eric Lamela in 68th.
As the game looked headed for extra-time, Englishman Harry Winks scored Tottenham’s second goal in the 86th minute before Son set up Ndombele for the third.
Ndombele was it again completing his brace to make it four for the North London side in the 90th minute off Hojbjerg’s assist.
Tottenham progress to the fifth round and will take on fellow Premier League side Everton while Wycombe will now focus on surviving relegation in the Championship where they are rock bottom of the 24-team log.
