Moments after helping France hit the final of the 2022 Qatar World Cup, defenders Ibrahima Konate and Jules Kounde were summoned for drug tests.

Incidentally, according to The Mirror, the duo missed their team’s celebrations following their 2-0 win over Morocco on Wednesday, to set up a tie with Argentina at the Lusial Stadium on Sunday.

The two defenders were selected to provide random doping samples following the match, where Theo Hernandez and Randall Kolo Muani scored for the Les Blues.

Konate came into the side for the match with regular first-choice center-back Dayot Upamecano ruledout through illness.

The Liverpool ace stepped up and performed heroically alongside Manchester United’s Raphael Varane.

Konate’s brilliant display may have given Les Blues boss Didier Deschamps a major selection headache if Upamecano recovers in time to face Argentina.
