Final five nominees for the 2020 256 Footballer of the year Award released

From 15 we have arrived at the final five nominees as the race for the 2020 256 Footballer of the year hots up with the final list tossing up some exciting names.

The list includes two defenders, and three forwards and none of the five nominees from last year are in the running for the prize this year.

Mustafa Kizza, Steven Mukwala, Fahad Bayo, Farouk Miya, and Nicholas Wadada make the final nominees’ list for 2020.

KCCA FC defender Kizza and last season’s Uganda Premier League top scorer Mukwala make the final list as the only locally based players.

Both players had an incredible year and it will be interesting to see if Kizza becomes the first defender and second player from KCCA to win the prize – after Allan Okello’s triumph in the inaugural edition.

Mukwala who is without a club currently was dominant while on loan at Maroons from Vipers SC, he scored 13 goals to top scoring charts in the league last season.

In July, defender Wadada was voted the best defender in the Tanzanian Premier League after providing eight assists and scored one goal for Azam FC as they finished third on the log.

Miya had a brilliant season with Konyaspor in the Turkish Premier League where he scored eight goals as he helped the Anatolian Eagles survive relegation.

Bayo played a crucial role for Vipers as they secured their fourth league crown scoring 12 goals before moving on to FC Ashdod in June.

The award authentically recognises the best performing Ugandan football players both on the local scene and in the diaspora for the period starting December – November every year.

The winner of the #256FOTY award for the year 2020 will be announced on November 18, 2020.

Voting for your best player will be done via an online portal on the website, with every IP address guaranteed a single vote every 24 hours.
