A number of fundraising campaigns have been put in place to try and save Albert Ampwera who needs over Shs200M to undergo an emergency surgery.

On November 23, 2018, Albert Ampwera was involved in an accident when the motorcycle on which he was travelling was knocked by a speeding motorist at the Spear Motors junction, on Jinja Road.

Ampwera hit his head on the tarmac and sustained a severe head injury, he has since been confined in the Intensive Care Unit at Case Hospital, in Kampala.

The latest to join that campaign is Mama Teo, a group of old students of St Mary’s College Kisubi from 1992 to 1997.

The class have organized an invitational tournament at Mubs to try and raise funds as a way of raising the money that is needed.

The Mama Teo invitational Cup will feature all the teams from The Smack League and three guest teams taking the total to sixteen and they will be drawn in four groups of four teams.

All proceeds will go towards the #SaveAlbo project who is now fighting for his life in the Intensive Care Unit at Case Hospital, in Kampala.

As of March 6th, 2019, Shs121, 183,000 has been collected in cash and Shs8, 875,000 in pledge from a drive that started at the beginning of February 2019.

The other channels used to get the funds included two fundraising car washes, two whatsapp challenges (10kforAlbo and 20Kfor Albo). That leaves Shs69, 942,000 needed by Ampwera to make his surgery a success.
