The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has effected the payment of the outstanding bonuses owed to the Uganda Cranes CHAN team.
FUFA who have faced increased pressure from the public especially through former Cranes forward Sulaiman ‘Mike’ Mutyaba have finally fulfilled their end of the bargain.
Football256 understands that a sum of UGX 5.5 million ( USD 1500) was transferred to individual accounts of all players who took part in the January – February 2021 tournament held in Cameroon.
“We have received the bonuses owed to us by FUFA for playing at CHAN,” a player who prefered anonymity told Football256.
The bonus covered daily bonuses for the time the players spent in camp both before and during the tournament.
The CHAN team started their preparations for the tournament which is exclusive to local based players on December 21, 2020, spending.
They spent 39 days in camp until January 29 2021 when the camp broke off following their elimination from the tournament.
Uganda failed to progress beyond the group stages of the tournament for a fifth consecutive time, a 5-2 defeat to Morocco confirmed their elimination from the tournament.
A performance which FUFA president Moses Magogo slammed describing it as ‘shitty’ and one for which the players did not deserve to demand for payment.
