Sports Club Villa and Express FC are arguably Uganda’s greatest football clubs with great history domestically and at continental level for the former.

But their current state especially administratively has left many wondering what could be the problem.

The state of the two sleeping giants has also caught the attention of the FUFA Moses Magogo who thinks if they don’t get their houses on order, the relegation monster might feed on them.

“If all stays as it is at SC Villa and Express FC, it may not be today or tomorrow as they’ve both survived relegation in the last two seasons, but I prophesy one day they’ll be relegated,”
Magogo said while appearing on CBS FM on Tuesday night.

The two clubs have gone a while without tasting silverware but have also felt the pinch with poor administrative structure, something that has forced them to flirt with relegation in the past two seasons.

“Those two clubs are the country’s light of football because they’ve played at the biggest stage.”

“You don’t talk of Ugandan football while overseas and one doesn’t ask you about SC Villa and Express FC,” he added.

SC Villa are the record champions of the country’s domestic League with 16 tittles while Express FC are on six.

“As a federation, we’ve reached out to these two clubs on a number of occasions and told them to change theirs strategies beginning with management.”

“Since the two have the largest fan base in the country, ownership of the clubs should be granted to the fans, they’ll surely have more ways of support including the financial support.

Magogo just like the Villa and Express faithfuls hope that one day the once rulers of the local games will rise again and stand firmly to take the game to the next level.

“When they both return strongly then also the game of football will have a major boost but as of now we are all focusing on how they can make it again because we are experiencing a major twist at the expense of the two clubs.”

Express seem to be on the right track with putting their house in order and looks like their ownership troubles have been sorted, you can’t say the same about Villa however.
