FWEL: Asubo Gafford’s Nsubuga rallies charges to work as a team

By Edwin Kyle Kule

Asubo Gafford Ladies FC head coach Jackson Nsubuga has called upon his charges to work as a team if they are to gain promotion from the FUFA Women Elite League that is set to kick off on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.

The tournament will kickoff with Luwero Giants Queens facing Dynamic Jjeza SS WFC in the morning before Asubo Gafford Ladies face Kings of Kings SS WFC later in the afternoon on Saturday.

“We must play as a team and team work is one ingredient that will guide us through the tournament,” Nsubuga told the club media.

“I will not look at the big names in my squad but rather handle all players the same way and only use them to the best of their potential,” he added.

“You cannot tell someone’s weakness until you play them so we cannot tell who is weak now till we face them.”

“We are planning for each opponent differently because we respect all of them. I am blessed to say all our players are in good health. We want to gain promotion to the Super League and put Gafford on the level it deserves.”

“This time round we are prepared according to the group we are in, and our target is to play in the Super league. Our team has been prepared well and we have to progress through the group to reach our target,” Nsubuga said.

Last year, Asubo Gafford were in the Elizabeth group where they came second behind Makerere University who qualified automatically to the FUFA Women Super League.

Asubo Gafford earned a place in play offs where they played against Tooro Queens. The Fort Portal based side won 4-2 via penalty shoot outs following a goal less draw in normal time.
