Bunyaruguru Girls FC and Rines WFC sealed the first two slots of the FUFA Women Elite League following respective victories in their quarter-finals.
Bunyaruguru played to a 2-0 victory over Kings of Kings in the first quarter-final of the tournament before Rines edged Dynamic SS 5-4 on penalties in the other quarter-final clash on Saturday.
Norah Alupo’s brace was the difference between Rubirizi based Bunyaruguru and Fortportal based King of Kings at FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.
Alupo opened the scoring in the 40th minute from a free-kick, before completing her double in the 64th minute, to take her tally to three goals.
Kings of Kings were reduced to 10-men with six minutes to go after defender Florence Kaheru saw red for two bookable offences.
Meanwhile, Rines SS goalkeeper Elsie Najjemba was the hero of the day as she saved Victoria Namakula’s penalty to lift her team to a 5-4 victory in the shootouts.
The game ended goalless after normal time, with Shakira Nalule, Eva Nagayi, Florence Nakalule, Yuster Kayesu, Maureen Nakinga all converting their spot kicks for Rines.
Meanwhile, Frankline Natumanya, Daphine Nalubowa, Sandra Nakalya, Aisha Namukaaya scored for Dynamic before Namakula missed her penalty. Rines will play against Banyaruguru in the first semi-final on Monday.
The remaining two quarter-final games will be played on Sunday with Amuria High School facing Wakiso Hills while She Maroons face off Ajax Queens.
