Olila High School coach Pande Cifu is optimistic his side will immediately bounce back with positive results after narrowly losing their opening game in Group B of the 2020/21 FUFA Women Super League (FWSL).
Olila High School lost 1-0 against She Corporate who took all three points through Noeline Namiro’s free kick in the first half.
Cifu attributed the loss to bad luck and interference in preparation; “We have few players available for selection, and some of our instrumental players are away doing their final exams.”
“We found ourselves in a difficult situation where several players had to be used in their unnatural positions,” Cifu noted.
“We were also unlucky; we created some chances but did not convert any of them. But we shall not keep lamenting over that. What we need to do now is to focus on the next game,” he said.
Olila High School captain Marion Amangat like her coach reiterated that luck was not on their side during their defeat.
“We played well and deserved to win but lost narrowly. Nevertheless, we’re still strong. We will immediately bounce back as soon as the next game,” she said.
Amangat also noted that the unavailability of some of their senior players cost them a lot, admitting that the team missed their services.
She Corporate coach Ali Zinda, on the other hand, wants to build on the vital opening three points to go further in the tournament. While his team captain, Vanessa Karungi attributed their win to teamwork.
In the other Group B game played on Monday, Fazila Ikwaput was on fire as she netted four as she lifted Lady Doves to a 5-0 victory against Isra Soccer Academy.
Ikwaput will turn her guns against her former employers as action resumes on Tuesday, April 27) with Olila High School taking on Lady Doves while She Corporate will tussle it out with UCU Lady Cardinals.
