Kampala Queens WFC were the biggest winners of all the three teams that registered victories on matchday one.
A 5-0 thrashing of newly promoted side Asubo Gafford LFC ensured that the Queens had a strong start to their campaign.
In a one-sided encounter played at IUIU Kabojja Grounds, Sumaya Komuntale, Shamirah Nalugya, Resty Nanziri, Margaret Kunihira, and Lilian Mutuuzo were the players on target for the Queens.
Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga WFC also started with a 2-0 win over Rines Secondary School WFC.
Kevin Nakacwa scored from a penalty spot before Brenda Munyana’s strike in Lubaga on Sunday.
The other victorious team on the day was Olila High School WFC who edged Lady Doves WFC 1-0 in Soroti on Sunday.
Meanwhile, defending champions She Corporate started their title defense with a 1-1 draw with newbies Makerere University WFC (She Mak).
She Corporate’s Spencer Nakacwa scored the first goal of the new season but it was cancelled out by Daphine Nalubowa at Makerere University’s main grounds on a rainy Saturday.
After matchday one, Kampala Queens lead proceedings with a better goal difference although level on three points with second-placed Uganda Martyrs and third-placed Olila.
Rivals Corporate and She Mak are tied on a single point apiece in fourth and fifth position respectively.
Lady Doves, Rines, and Gafford who are winless are sixth, seventh, and eighth respectively.
Kawempe Muslim WFC and UCU Lady Cardinals were the teams that were not involved on the day due to the former’s engagement in FEASSSA games.
