Lady Doves edged record FUFA Women Super League champions Kawempe Muslim 1-0 in the first semi-final to book a place in the tournament final at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru, on Monday.
Riticia Nabbosa’s strike from range a minute to end the first half was enough to guide Lady Doves past Kawempe Muslim.
Lady Doves lost talisman and FWSL top scorer Fazila Ikwaput through injury midway through the first half following a foul from Samalie Nakacwa minutes before they found the breakthrough.
The best chance of the first half fell to Juliet Nalukenge, but the striker failed to connect with a low cross from just six yards in front of the goal.
Lady Doves’ goalkeeper Daisy Nakaziro did well to deny Kawempe a leveller at the start of the second half after Hadijja Nandago weaved through her backline.
Kawempe Muslim made several changes in search of an equaliser, but Lady Doves’ defence stood firm to keep their goal safe from any breach.
The result sends Lady Doves to their second consecutive final as they chase their first FWSL title.
The last time they reached the final, the Masindi based club lost 2-0 to UCU Lady Cardinals who play Uganda Martyrs in the second semi-final.
