FUFA Women Super League holders UCU Lady Cardinals will meet Lady Doves WFC in the final of the 2021 FWSL following a narrow 1-0 semi-final victory over Uganda Martyrs Lubaga.
Jauhara Nabaggala’s solo goal after 14 minutes at the FUFA Technical Centre on Monday afternoon was enough to ensure that the Lady Cardinals reach a second consecutive final against a familiar foe.
The final which will be played on Wednesday, May 5 at Njeru will see a repeat of the 2019 final where the Lady Cardinals emerged 2-0 winners of the tournament.
Goals from Hassifah Nassuna and Moureen Kinavudori helped UCU to their first top division title.
The two opponents will be meeting for the second time in the current campaign after they were drawn together in group B.
Lady Doves emerged winners of that specific encounter that happened on Wednesday last week.
Fazila Ikwaput scoring twice to complete a comeback after UCU captain Hassifah Nassuna had put her side in the lead from the penalty spot.
Meanwhile, Lady Doves sealed progress to the final following a 1-0 victory over Kawempe Muslim on Monday morning.
Reticia Nabbosa’s strike from range at the stroke of half-time sealed Lady Doves’ place, with the club unfortunate to lose talisman Ikwaput through injury.
