Onduparaka midfielder Gaddafi Wahab returned to training after a four months injury layoff on January 22nd as the team regathered from the first round break.

The 19 year old experienced an ankle injury during a preseason match against Koboko Rising Stars last year on September 18th.

After under going a medical healing and recovery procedure for a month Wahab will start the rehabilitation process.

“I had cement in the first three months, after it was removed and I had to rest for a month before I started training, personal time, running around because the physician had instructed me to do so,” explained Wahab. “I started jogging a week before the end of December 2018.” He added.

The injury is the worst faced by the teenager in his football career although he’s had such times before. Wahab who was the heart of creativity in the Onduparaka midfield then, during the finals of the 2016 FUFA Big League match with Kirinya Jinja SSS suffered an injury second to the recent.

Consequently he lost form that has never been rediscovered, coupled with some personal issues, his ranking in the team’s pecking order dropped during the reign of former coach Livingstone Mbabazi.

In the second round of 2017/18, Onduparaka loaned him to a Big League side Doves All Stars before he was welcomed back for the 2018/19 season and the unfortunate happened again.

When questioned by our writers over the possibility of regaining and doing what he does best, the Adjumani born sounded excited to be back with the team.

“It’s all about the mindset. It’s not going to be easy and I won’t rush but I’ll be training with the team. It’s great feeling to get back with the team again in the squad playing together,” Wahab said.

March is when Wahab is expected to be ready for selection in any fixture as the whole of February he will be working on getting back his touch and sharpness.
