Custodian Elsie Najjemba has signed a new contract with Rines SS Women Football Club to commit her future at the club after the expiry of her old.
The 2020/21 FUFA Women Elite season’s best goalkeeper put pen to paper on Friday, extending her stay for a further two years.
While speaking to Football256 the custodian said; “I am obviously honoured and proud to continue playing for Rines.”
“Talks have been held to see this happen but it is amazing to have sealed it and now I am going to concentrate on what lies ahead,” she noted.
“Rines has groomed me and I have observed a great development in whatever I do as a goalkeeper. So extending my stay here is the only way I can payback.”
According to the goalkeeper, playing football is a journey as she believes she has taken a number of steps and will not stop doing so, with top flight football coming ahead.
“I love every minute when I look back and see the hard times when I was starting my career. But here we are, I will be playing in the top tier league next season,” she added.
Rines head coach, Bright Nyazi defined Najjemba as his team’s base and an integral figure in what he is planning with his squad ahead of the coming season.
“I am excited to know that Najjemba is staying. She is a strong pillar in whatever plan I have with the team as we search for excellence next season.”
“I have seen her grow and I know she can still get better and better, to the sky is the limit. I will keep supporting and grooming her talent because it is golden for the nation at large,” he noted.
Najjemba was so instrumental in the journey of Rines to gain promotion to the FUFA Women Super League. Her outstanding performance saw her emerge the best between the sticks.
Her excellence earned her a call to Crested Cranes’ head coach George William Lutalo’s provisional squad for the COSAFA Women’s Championship.
