In his third stint as head coach of three time StarTimes Uganda Premier League Vipers SC, Edward Golola in the process becomes the 13th man to take over the reigns at the Kitende based side since they gained promotion to the topflight in 2006.
And he is happy to be back at the club he led to it’s first and second league titles as head coach and and a third as assistant to Miguel Da Costa.
“I’m happy to be back where l belong and l think it is like the beginning of a new period. Do l have a different personality? No, but for sure l have a different approach and perspective,” Golola told www.viperssc.co.ug.
“I am where l want to be because my career has been built and raised on success. I was able to achieve success and win trophies with this team. I have to believe in that.”
“I am back because we feel we are in the best moments though have a little meltdown which we are going to work on and am ready to work together again with anyone to help this club succeed again,” Golola added.
Golola replaces Mexican Javier Martinez Espinosa who was sacked on December 29th, 2018 for ‘poor results’ much as the side was unbeaten in the league and still in contention for a slot in the group stages of the 2018/2019 Total CAF Confederation Cup.
Golola who will be in charge of the side on interim basis will work with Kenyan Micheal Nam Ouma and Edward Ssali as his deputy and trainer respectively.
Moses Oloya remains the side’s goalkeeping coach while Ram Nyakana Mpuga is in the fray as the strength and conditioning coach.
Golola’s immediate opponent will be Onduparaka on Tuesday January 8th at St Mary’s Stadium before they play CS Sfaxien in the first leg play off of the 2018/2019 Total CAF Confederation Cup.
