It’s been a while since Vipers tasted victory in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, ‘Mr Fix it’ Edward Golola found that touch again.
The league holders came off two back to back barren draws against Tooro United and Bright Stars to defeat Onduparaka 3-0 at St Mary’s Stadium on Tuesday.
The Kitende side also had a rare start for their new acquisition Innocent Wafula and he did have his moments though they weren’t enough to write headlines.
After a barren first half, midfielder Geoffrey Wasswa shot the hosts into the lead, it was his second of the season.
Daniel Muzeyi Sserunkuma got the better of Onduparaka’s defense when he curled one into the back of the net in the 52nd minute.
Desperate to stretch their lead, Vipers won a corner, and a very unfamiliar source in Livingstone Mulondo nodded home the third in the 73rd minute.
Vipers maintain their second slot on the the sixteen team log with 29 points, seven behind leaders KCCA and and with two games in hand.
Onduparaka drop to fourth on 24 points, Mbarara City take over third on the same points just separated by goal difference.
