Much as KCCA FC manager Mike Mutebi has revealed that completing a three peat in the Stanbic Uganda Cup is one of his ideal targets this season, the road to the final might be stiffer in some areas.
Not that in the past it has not been, but the opposition over the years gets to figure you out and in the end the smooth ride becomes bumpy.
Coming off an 8-2 demolishing of Amuka Bright Stars at the Round of 64 at Lugogo, the 10 time winners of the competition visit Tooro United at the round of 32 at Buhinga Stadium later this month.
Tooro United defeated Entebbe FC 2-0 at the same stage in Buhinga and they will hope to be second time lucky when they host the holders again.
Onduparaka who defeated Busia Young 2-0 away again find themselves in another away tie against fellow Uganda Premier League side Kirinya Jinja SSS. Kirinya were 2-0 winners over Mbarara FC in Mbarara.
Eight teams at the round of 64 failed to honour their fixtures and they faced repercussions according to the FUFA Competitions’ Directors Aisha Nalule.
She sounded the same warning going into the round of 32 that will be played from 11-17 January 2019
“Any team that fails to honour its matches will face fine. Docking off points in their respective leagues they can also face demotion,” Nalule said.
The eight teams are Saviour FC (Did not show up), Akadot FC (Did not show up) -Paidha Black Angels (Arrived Late), Kabale Sharp FC (Did not show up).
Vision FC (Did not show up), Koboko Raising Stars (Did not show up), JMC Hippos (Did not show up) and Rushekere FC (Did not show up) being the others
