How a 3-5-2 formation accommodates all KCCA new signings

By Football256 Team

As Morley Byekwaso approaches his first of a three-year tenure, enormous changes have already been sighted at KCCA-especially in terms of recruitment and this has provoked speculations on how they will line up in the forthcoming season.

The fact that he differs from his predecessor in terms of philosophy irresistibly had him changing the technical matters at the club in order to create his own identity. This might also involve altering the formation the club is so accustomed to.

It is important to note that by the closure of transfer business on Tuesday, September 24th, six familiar names had departed Lugogo while a total of thirteen had come in. His critics have indeed had a mean with this.

Although Morley has more often than not been criticized for letting go of so many youngsters, the fact that his new acquisitions are applaudable and show the clear intent of a club destined to return to its glory days is hard to miss.

The composition of the former SC Victoria University gaffer’s team of new recruits after the window is such that eleven players joined from elsewhere while two were elevated from the club’s academy.

That in essence accounts for a full team of new recruits along with two substitutes, in fact, a strong team that could favourably compete with the rest of the KCCA team or even better, in the league.

From the look of things, it is clear KCCA acquired match-starters and game winners at that, who will be expected to fit in sooner than later. Some of these will walk straight into the starting eleven at Lugogo.

Considering only the new recruits, this is how KCCA could possibly line up in a 3-5-2 formation.

Goalkeeper: The ambitious Derrick Ochan takes up the number one spot in goal over Benjamin Ochan given the fitness level and the anger to make his presence felt.

Defence: A three man defence is ideal given the available options from the club’s recent acquisitions. This will accommodate the rock-solid Geofrey Wasswa standing in-between Innocent Wafula on the right and Ibrahim Juma on the left.

Midfield: A fully offensive midfield with a slight dash of a defensive mindset would be a commendable set up to facilitate attack without having to worry so much about an exposed backline.

Arafat Usama will operate just ahead of Emmanuel Wasswa and Yasser Mugerwa but to complete an inventive five-man midfield, two enterprising wingbacks will also be employed.

These will be Brian Majwega on the left flank, and Rodgers Mato wide on the right to facilitate the smooth operation of Davis Kasirye and Brian Kayanja upfront.

Attack: Two typical number nines (Kasirye and Kayanja) would surely not fail to score when backed with such immense creativity to feed off.

Ideally, adequate crosses from both wings and clever through balls from the middle would result in high goal-scoring chances for the forward players that will make KCCA untouchable yet again.

Benjamin Ochan and Elvis Mwanje would come in at any time when needed. Particularly, Mwanje would come in for Mato, or Usama.

Notably, players who could have stayed but departed KCCA this season include; Filbert Obenchan, Hassan Matovu, Samuel Kato Nemeyimana, Moses Aliro, Joseph Kafumbe and Hassan Musana.

All the new additions are; Brian Majwega, Brian Kayanja, Geoffrey Wasswa, Emmanuel Wasswa, Yasser Mugerwa, Innocent Wafula, Elvis Mwanje, Ibrahim Juma, Derrick Ochan, Arafat Usama, Rodgers Mato, Benjamin Ochan and Davis Kasirye.
