Tom Ikara has promised to sweat blood in order to restore Police FC’s supremacy in Ugandan football after signing a two-year contract until 2022 with the Cops.

The 23-year-old custodian was officially unveiled by the club on Tuesday, July 28th, 2020, joining from 13-time Uganda Premier League champions KCCA FC.

“I am happy to sign for Police FC because it has been my dream. Police is a big team in Ugandan football,” Tom Ikara said before adding.

“My main objective is to help Police FC restore its status and form especially in the league,” he added.

Ikara joined Police FC as a free agent after being released by the Mike Mutebi coached side.

He was part of the team that helped Kirinya Jinja SS get promoted to the Uganda Premier League in the 2016/2017 season.

Due to his consistent performances at the Jinja based club, he was signed by KCCA in 2018 winning the Uganda Premier League in the 2018/2019 season.

He was also in the squad that won the CECAFA Kagame Cup in 2019 and started in goal for KCCA’s first-ever CAF Champions League group stage match in 2018 against Township Rollers in Botswana.

However, due to lack of playing time and failure to outcompete Charles Lukwago, Ikara was sent out on loan to Mbarara City last season.

At Mbarara, he played a total of 21 matches and was able to keep 10 clean sheets.

According to reports, several clubs including Vipers SC and URA FC were chasing for his signature but he decided to sign for the Abdallah Mubiru coached side.
